ettain group has an immediate Contract to Hire opportunity for a Technical Support Consultant (with mainframe support background) in the Cary / Raleigh, NC area.
Our client is looking for a support technician with mainframe programming background.
In this role, you will provide quality support to our client's customers and employees. You will be the main North American technical point of contact for employees, customers and international support centers. You will work with customers to resolve or work-around their support incidents.
To be considered for this role, you must have recent and relevant experience as a vendor providing mainframe support to external clients.

Main Responsibilities:
•Timely resolution of reported customer issues and general customer satisfaction
•Gathering and analyzing relevant incident information
•Documenting reported incidents
•Recreating reported incidents
•Working with our client's international support centers on product problems
•Testing solutions
•Responsible for our client's installations and maintenance
•Responsible for ensuring SLAs are met for all customers
•Responsible for Professional Services (offering the customer innovative solutions, etc)
•Responsible for communicating technical and customer issues to Account Management, Sales, or pre-sales
•Collating and dispensing product advice
•Provide emergency production support 24 x 365
Required Experience / Qualifications:
•Technical Support experience
•Some mainframe development experience including a mix of COBOL or PL/I programming in a CICS environment and Java or .NET programming in a distributed environment (3+ years experience)
•Extensive knowledge of operating systems including z/OS and Windows
•Extensive knowledge of databases including DB2 for z/OS
•Expertise in CICS, JCL, and TSO / ISPF
•Implementation experience
•Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and inter-personal skills
Preferred Experience / Qualifications:
•Expertise with i5/OS,IBM i, Windows, and / or Linux
•Expertise with SQL Server and Oracle
•Any experience in a global environment
Other Information:
•Must be open to an on-call support rotation
•Must be willing to travel up to 25% (our client will cover travel expenses)
•You must be able to work on a w2 or c2c contract during the contract phase of this opportunity. Candidates submitted through sub-contracting agencies may not be considered for this opportunity. You must be willing and able to go permanent at our client without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship.
